Mindfook

The much anticipated Shutter Island turned out to be brilliant. The 90% mark made me a little unhappy but in the end I am thrilled with how much thinking was needed, the smoothness, the excitement and the cinematics, oh the cinematics was amazing. Hats off to Scorcese! Never fails to impress.
We were engaged in deep discussion after the movie and that's always a good sign.

Met Callor & Chivalkim for their last champagne atop the helipad today and it was sweet. I got big smushy hugs and sentimental group dances and even the mandatory lift+dip from Chivalkim. I will def miss them. Such lovely fellas. Definitely will visit Callor in England.

Even drive home was fun today with Kings of Leon blasting and the heaven of a blasting aircon after walking through the street sauna. Good times. Good times.

A Feast for Kings

Oh the growing up is madness!

This weekend, my brother and I rolled up our sleeves and cooked a feast for our mum. We made a fantastic spread of delicious food. I think we impressed ourselves with the lack of errors.

The Menu
Cream of Chicken Soup
Prawn & Mango Salad
Crispy Grilled Cereal Prawns
Rack of Ribs (Pork)
Mashed Potatoes

Muscat Wine, Australia

Chocolatte Mousse
Neapolitan Ice Cream
Peach Cobbler

I did the shopping, some cooking, baking, decorating and the desserts. Wow that peach cobbler was heaven. I think I found my kitchen niche! All set to try out new desserts. So the next man better be prepared to be spoiled *wink*

[Forgot to take photos of the dessert!]

Thou Shalt Not

I am Catholic.

I believe and I do not want nor need to hear all the ways/reasons you think I should not. Do not mock my religion or criticize my faith. You don't believe what I believe but I'm not being a jerk about what you believe. So really, you don't have to. If you choose to offend me, I will be offended.

Thank you.

The happiest month of my adult life

do miss being a kid quite a bit although for the most part I was quiet and very very obedient and obliging to others. My favourite thing was when I finally got to a totally comfortable stage with new friends and cracked some jokes and catch them totally off-guard after my usually quiet demeanor.

August of 2009 was a fantastic month for me. I was feeling better and looking infinitely better. I'd been to a beautiful quiet tropical island. Met some new fun friends. Held hands in the purest moment. Experienced a highest high after my lowest low -- which means little things made me ecstatic already, imagine the highest high! I danced, I smiled, I lay down in the sand and the most beautiful night sky, warm and loved.

I was accomplished and moving forward to a next big goal. I was dancing like a newborn girl. I was walking ahead like a woman. I was heard and I was impressed. I was lifted up and steady all by myself.

I was happy.

Island Life Love It

Rushed out to Chris Stop Her's surprise dinner & was the first ones there, soon joined by the rest of the Bruddahs. Was a lovely dinner. Especially great to see how happy Chris was, surrounded by his 2 groups of friends & his parents who were lovely enough to drop by. Still strange how similar his mum is to ours!

Headed out to Sentosa after, to say goodbye to Fin. Was surprised to find a huge group of people, including ones I'd say goodbye to the night before! It was fun though, chilling on Sentosa in the silence of the night with just friends for company. Jonoj broke out on the guitar and we sang stupidly together. Chivalrous lifted me and hung me upside down while discussing with the boys how to toss me between them. Spoke excitedly with Fin about the future of my work and how much I'd miss her before finding a lucky cab with a lovely cabdriver home.

Yet another lovely night. New way of seeing Sentosa, surprisingly lovely. It was kinda how I saw my youth unfolding, with fun chillouts like this. With groups within a group. I hate that they're leaving. Who else wants to do stuff like this? Boo hiss.

In reminiscing and hating the inevitable leaving, I made them a little montage to show my love and for me to remember them all at once when the ball of time has rolled far on.

Farewells Part 3

Margaritas with half of Team Norway this evening. Riksen and Nhil were totally totally lovely. Gah. It's almost painful meeting wonderful people that you just know you can be good friends with, but then have to part. Nhil has invited me to spend  a year in Norway with a story about the changing of seasons that made it sound totally perfect. I don't know abt a year but I like the people from there enough. And I suppose I would look totally different n perhaps interesting to them?

She is truly adorable and likeable. Hilarious when buzzed and just downright good company at all times. Cute as a button. Riksen is equally awesome. They are the type of people you just want to hug all the time because they're so chill/nice/unpretentious/interesting.

I will definitely definitely miss them! Would really like the chance to meet again.

Farewells Part 2

Jino said the night before that he was coming back for the bbq to say a proper goodbye to everyone who was leaving. I realised it was fairly important to do the same, whether or not it fit my schedule. As always, people first!

I went to 2 bbqs in the West. First one was quite quiet despite the number of people. Did get to say a few goodbyes then went to the other. It was a smaller group but much more conversation. Drank a little ate a little and laughed a little. The sadness of saying goodbye to friends made, hit me. I never can wrap my head around it that they're leaving forever. Will be saddest when Rick n the crew leave.

I got an invitation to Hamburg and a big excited speech about how awesome the tshirt I made was. Was ridiculously cool seeing someone walk around in my design. Hard to explain!

Followed the boys to a hotel club so I could half my cabfare home. Was as dodgy as I remembered. Entertained by working people who looked classy but acted like idiots.

Spoke to Peaux on Skype when I got back despite being sooooo tired, but it was fun and comfortable. Can't wait till he visits!

Farewells & Tshirts

Back on the blogscene after listening to Ray LeMontagne, who evoked the old poetry-prone self.

Back at uni selling tshirts. The very first t-shirts with my design, that I've seen in print. I can't tell u how excited I am about it!

Met some friends while out there. Was really good to see the close ones - Rick, Naudy, Hatrick & Vys. It's weird though when u just feel like friends but u dont really have the chance to grow together. I mean I was genuinely happy to see them. I guess thas why it irks me when other friends just reduce them to "white guys". It's like reverse racism but no one really sees that.

Sat with Curlyro & gang for a bit on my way out and that was nice too. It's funny knowing as many people as I do when I'm not in NUS. BUt also seeing how staying there makes a huge difference. Jino joined and I had nothing interesting to say. Truly, disappointing, as he said. It was fun chilling with them.

I saw Bianich on the way to the toilet. I tried to make a silent statement by pointedly ignoring him but not sure I really succeeded. I do think he tried to say hi at one point but I walked on by. No smile. Shoulda brought the claws out really!

Also saw Vivienne who was nice enough to buy an Exchange tee spontaneously.

It was great to just chill with everyone and I will miss them loads.
